I feel I would be remiss if I did not start this weekend's review acknowledging the sudden and tragic passing of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva just a few short days ago. As many in the comments have pointed out before, when you constantly play an EVO’d Trey Nyoni in your squad, you're likely a red. The passing of these two men with their lives well in front of them has felt like a terrible dream. Like many, I can’t put into words how horrible I feel for their families and the tremendous loss they are experiencing. But one thing is for certain, Jota’s memory will live on always in his song, the connection between himself and the fans, #20, and that brilliant smile. Rest In Peace.
At times like these it is hard to just shift gears and follow that with, “okay and here is another Shapeshifter review”… and even more so it acts as a painful reminder of a man who was an ambassador for the game that he was very very good at. So I move forward with our review this weekend, aware of how trivial it feels given the circumstances and in a way doing what games do for a lot of us in trying to find some joy in temporarily escaping the difficulties of life.
This weekend we had a few possibilities to consider but I just couldn’t look past the electric Belgian Jeremy Doku. Still the 4-2-1-3 formation this weekend and again the temptation was there to play Doku in the CAM position and watch him cause havoc from a deeper position, but that would have been one too many CAM reviews in a row and so I played the Man City speedster in the striker position throughout the review.
The HAWK Chemistry Style continues to pop up with these ever-improving cards and looked the best option to get the most out of Doku this weekend, and with that all was set to head into the Weekend League grind. The hope was for Doku to provide the added push and pace through the middle in the following squad:
I do not say this lightly, and yes I have used TOTS Mbappe extensively since my ridiculous pack luck… Doku is one of, if not the most, entertaining striker that I have used this Ultimate Team. Perhaps it is the nerf to tackling that made this review so enjoyable, or maybe it is just the perfect combination of what I like in a card, but this card and review were both a lot of fun. 18 goals and 4 assists in 5 matches with 3 being rage quits doesn’t hurt the enjoyable levels either and overall Doku was able to produce consistently in a variety of scenarios. This is a scary card and one that has more to it than even the insane statistics show.

I think my opponents this weekend got a first-hand experience on what it is like to be a full back facing up against Doku, except this weekend he had the end product to make those situations count. I realize I am including a lot of the attacking qualities together in this section, but it was a lethal combination resulting in 18 goals and a fantastic overall performance. The Pace is first and foremost and while a FUTBIN comment on Doku not having Base 99 PACE was a solid (albeit crude) point… This card has every bit of 99 PACE and more. The CONTROLLED EXPLOSIVE + QUICK STEP on a 99 ACCELERATION smaller body type was like Doku was shot out of a cannon, except this cannonball was not susceptible to gravity as the 99 SPRINT SPEED & RAPID PLUS had Doku perpetually flying.
If Doku’s only weapon was speed then opponents could anticipate those movements, but the Dribbling was also insane. The TECHNICAL PLUS felt like Doku was still moving quickly through the middle of the pitch and everything about this card just lends to opponents missing tackles, which as I said led to Doku exploiting that extra split second with his Pace. The L1 movement was borderline a cheat code and one false attempt at a tackle meant an immediate explosion of Pace into the space before making the right decision to create chances.
While the Pace and Dribbling created all of the chances… The Shooting is where this review was really interesting. The 4 STAR WEAK FOOT with Doku feels like a 5 STAR WEAK FOOT to the point that I had to go back and check that I had not misread something. He did not miss. I have made it a habit to never give a perfect 10/10 to a card without the 5 STAR WEAK FOOT because essentially how could it be perfect? However, this one is killing me as a perfect 10/10 Shooting would let me give this card a perfect 10/10 rating overall… Yes, Doku is that good. FINESSE SHOT Plus with both feet curling into the corners, definitely 99 SHOT POWER with both feet, unsaveable LOW DRIVEN PLUS… It did not matter, Doku scored them, and that is how you amass 18 goals in 3 matches worth of minutes.
Value/Coins
Value/Coins: 5/5
The fact that this card is likely going to fall into and below 1.5 million, especially with FUTTIES around the corner, is an insane thought. I realize that at this point most will point to the 5 STAR WEAK FOOT and show the list of cards that are therefore better, but again that was not my experience with Doku this weekend. Maybe I am looking at it slightly the wrong way and with a 5 STAR WEAK FOOT this card would be way overpriced? But for me it is simply put, great value for coins.
Good vs. Bad
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5
It really was all systems go with Doku this weekend…
Closing Words
I don’t want to make any crazy FIFA 20 FUT Birthday Griezmann comparisons here (for those who have not been around forever, he remains in my Top 5 favorite cards ever) but Doku has the potential of being up there as an all-timer for me. In a week or so I will come back to the Man City man and see exactly where he still stands, but what a review this was. Fast Pace, Responsive Dribbling, Clinical Finishing, Precise Passing, Strong Balance… Basically a catalog of the phrases that you like to hear when trying to determine if a card is worth your time… And Doku certainly is, 100% a must try.
In the end I do want to close with where my thoughts truly are as I type this… As the fun of this review is still overshadowed by terrible loss. Life is fragile, hug those you love and keep them close. As always, I hope you are all well. Cheers for reading.
